Lee Barrett Hackenberg

December 11, 1943 – July 22, 2022

Lee passed away at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband David Alan Hackenberg, son Michael Barrett Hackenberg (Anisa), daughter Christa Marie Hackenberg, and grandson Barrett Zaid Hackenberg.

Lee was a selfless, caring, and kind-hearted mother who gave of herself to family, friends and acquaintances with enthusiasm. While working in the office at Kenilworth Elementary School, she made friends with many parents and children who still remember her to this day. Her favorite hobbies included knitting and text editing. As an associate editor of the Bowie Senior Center’s newsletter, she prided herself on ensuring that grammar, spelling, and punctuation were of the highest quality.

A gathering to celebrate her life is planned for August 7, 2022 at noon, at our home in Bowie.
