Linda Sue Ponta

Linda Ponta passed away early Wednesday morning, December 15, 2022 at her home in Bowie, MD after a long battle with COPD. She is cherished and loved beyond measure and will be dearly missed. 

Born on July 14, 1957 in Plattsburgh, New York. As a military daughter and wife she spent time in numerous states and countries. She fondly talked about her time in Okinawa, Japan (where her first born was made). Bowie, MD was always her home.  She loved her time with BBGC on the football field, being a team mom and made many lifelong friendships. Some of her favorite things were shopping, cooking, holidays especially Christmas and baking. She loved to bake and would proudly share all her goodies.  

A devoted mother and grandmother. She lived for her grandchildren and would show them off to all. She loved them with her whole heart and was so proud to be Granny.  

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Shirley Gilderleeve, and brothers Larry and Thomas Gildersleeve. She is survived by her daughter Stephane Zanelotti (Nick) and sons Benjamin Ponta and Phillip Ponta. Linda also leaves 5 grandchildren Lilly Ponta, Dominick Walter and Jacob Zanelotti, Brailyn and Zoe Gross As well as her brother Steve Gildersleeve (Linda) and sister Valerie Gildersleeve. 

Linda will be laid to rest at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.
