Linda C. Thigpen, cherished wife, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on August 5, 2025, in Bowie, Maryland, at the age of 69. Born on April 26, 1956, in Newark, New Jersey, Linda's journey through life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, and creativity.
Linda was a nurturing and inspiring presence in the lives of everyone who knew her. As a mother, she dedicated herself to her children, Tara, Carl, Amber, Timothy and Carina, fostering not only a loving home but also instilling values of compassion and kindness. She found immense joy in her role as a homemaker, where her talents for crafting, cooking, and sewing flourished. Her home was often filled with the aroma of delicious meals and the warmth of laughter, as family gatherings brought them closer together.
A graduate of nurturing hearts, Linda exemplified what it meant to be an encouraging cheerleader—not just for her children during their various endeavors, but for everyone in her community. Her generosity extended to volunteering in the church nursery, bookstore, hospitality and encouragement team where she shared her love for children and faith and led people to Christ. Linda had a remarkable knack for supporting mission trips, proudly contributing to initiatives that reached farther than her immediate surroundings, including meaningful missions to Zambia and supporter of AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed).
Her exquisite taste in reading led to a profound appreciation for Christian Romance Novels, complementing her love for the Hallmark Channel and its heartwarming narratives. She also had a comedic side watching her favorite show, I Love Lucy. Enjoying nature through long walks, she found solace in the Scriptures and delight in her favorite music, which accompanied her in moments of reflection.
Linda leaves behind her devoted husband, Steven Thigpen, who stood by her side through life's joys and challenges for 49 years. She is also survived by her beloved children: Tara, Carl, Amber, Timothy {and his wife, Amanda} and Carina Kapoudas {and her husband, Georgios}. The joy of her life continued in her grandchildren, Leilani Thigpen and Dimitrios Kapoudas, who were the apples of her eye and the shining light of her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Clark and Leola Walker, who undoubtedly watched over her with love throughout her life, as she touched the lives of so many around her.
Linda C. Thigpen’s legacy of love, faith, and service endures in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. A viewing will be held on August 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Riverdale Baptist in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
