Linda Carter Thompson

On February 19,2023 at the age of 73, Linda Lee Carter was called home to be with her heavenly father. Linda was born to the late George F. Carter Jr and Lillie Mae Carter on February 11,1950 in Washington, DC. At the age of 21 Linda got married to Joe Thompson and had her first daughter Christina in March 1971. A few years later the couple divorced. In September 1980, Linda gave birth to her second daughter Melissa.

Linda worked multiple jobs from childcare to driving the bus for Metro to support her two daughters along with going to school. On March 25,1983 Linda graduated from the Georgetown School of Science and Arts and became a Medical Laboratory Technician. A year later she returned back to school for four years and received a certificate from the National Phlebotomy Association and became a Phlebotomist Technologist. She served over thirty years and worked diligently under that profession for the American Red Cross. She also served as a union representative there and later became the union president. Linda was a firm believer that everyone deserved to be treated equally and would fight for anyone she felt was not.

During her spare time Linda enjoyed crocheting blankets and pillow shams, eating hot potato chips and Haagen-Dazs ice cream while watching her soap operas or Lifetime movies, listening to oldie but goodies, spoiling her two dogs Santana and Barack, and tending to her front and backyard. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with her two daughters and three grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her two brothers George F. Carter III and Perry Carter, two daughters Christina Hinkle and Melissa Goodwin, three grandchildren Jamal Hinkle, Justice Hinkle, and Malachi Goodwin, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her siblings Evelyn Henson and Gary Carter.
