Madeline Phyllis Peterangelo
November 23, 1939 – March 18, 2026
Madeline Phyllis Peterangelo, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and cherished member of a large Italian family, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on March 18, 2026, at Doctors Hospital. She was 86 years old.
Born on November 23, 1939, in Buffalo, New York—on Thanksgiving Day—Madeline’s birthday would realign with the holiday every seven years, a fitting reflection of the gratitude, love, and family-centered spirit that defined her life. She was the beloved daughter of the late Frank Sacco and Rose (DiFranco) Sacco. The youngest of six children, she was raised in a close-knit family rooted in love, faith, and Italian tradition—values she carried with her throughout her life.
She was a faithful member of Ascension Catholic Church, where her deep Catholic faith continued to guide her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Phyllis Carter (Peterangelo) and Albert Peterangelo, Jr.; her cherished granddaughter, Danielle Kirchue (Carter) and her husband, Jason; and her adored great-granddaughters, triplets Ava, Giuliana, and Leah, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Madeline is also survived by her loving sisters, Sylvia Maraschiello, Carmella Hardesty, and Mary Tront; and was predeceased by her brothers, Alphonse Sacco and Samuel Sacco. She is also remembered fondly by her sister-in-law, Diane, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Affectionately known as “Ma,” “Ama,” or “Baby Sister,” Madeline found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved Lindt Lindor milk chocolate, vanilla ice cream, and listening to Andrea Bocelli. She enjoyed watching Italian cooking shows, Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies, and romantic comedies, especially during her favorite season—Christmas.
Her Catholic faith was a guiding light in her life. She had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and found comfort in praying the rosary. She had a special fondness for the color blue and took great pride in the talents of her family—especially loving to hear her girls and Al sing.
Above all, Madeline’s greatest love was her family. She was the heart of every gathering, the keeper of traditions, and a source of unwavering love and strength. Her legacy will live on through the generations she nurtured and the memories she created.
In accordance with Madeline’s wishes, no formal services will be held. The family asks that she be remembered in your prayers and through acts of kindness in her honor.
