Marcella C. Sheehan

Marcella Cairney Sheehan, born on October 5, 1930, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024. She joins her husband of 64 years, William Francis Sheehan, in eternal rest. Marcella was born and raised in Jackson Heights, New York. Moving to Washington, DC, she graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in Nursing. She served many years as the clinic coordinator at the Bowie State College infirmary, now the Henry Wise Wellness Center, in Bowie, Maryland.

Marcella was the third of four daughters born to Daniel and Jean Cairney. Her sisters, Suzanne, Mary, and Joan, predeceased her. She is survived by her loving children, Daniel Sheehan (Denise), Mary Elizabeth Whelan (John), Kathleen Lilly (David), Jennifer Graham (David), Jacqueline Cassidy (James), and Brendan Sheehan (Kristy). She was proud of her 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, and many dear friends and family.

After retiring, Marcella enjoyed traveling with Bill, playing bridge, and quilting. She leaves a legacy of love, compassion, and concern for others. She will be remembered by her family as a devoted wife and mother, good friend, and a person who lived her Catholic faith. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Largo, Maryland.  Please dress warmly due to a heat malfunction in the building.
