Margaret Williams Robinson was born in Troy, Alabama, on October 16, 1938, the second child of Annie and Lovette Williams. She was raised in a loving home grounded in strong Christian principles and surrounded by family. Margaret entered eternal rest on March 16, 2026, at the Ovalstone Comfort Home, where she passed peacefully with her beloved daughter, Dana, by her side.
During her elementary school years, Margaret’s father relocated the family to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended Pittsburgh Public Schools and graduated from Schenley High School in June 1957. Margaret played the violin and was active in many clubs during High School, such as the Marching Corps and the Student Board, along with her best friend, whom we call “Aunt Mollie.” Upon graduation, Margaret was immediately hired by the Pittsburgh Bell Telephone Company, becoming one of the few African Americans employed there at that time. After several years of dedicated service, she moved to East Orange, New Jersey, where she continued her career with New Jersey Bell, now known as Verizon. Margaret remained a loyal and faithful employee for more than forty years until her retirement.
In 1964, Margaret married her hometown love, Eric Robinson, in East Orange, New Jersey. From this union, they were blessed with one child, Dana, who was truly the joy of her life. Margaret and her daughter, Dana, shared a truly special bond. Margaret doted over Dana and spoke of her with a love that lit up the room. Dana, in turn, loved her mother with devotion and action, making sure she was safe, comfortable, and always well cared for. Margaret was sharp, her hair was always done, and she presented herself with the same dignity and pride she carried throughout her life. In the end, the same love that shaped their lives carried them through Margaret’s final days, as Dana remained faithfully by her side. Family was Margaret’s greatest priority. Her beloved grandson, Shaun Stuart, also held an incredibly special place in her heart, and she spoke of him often with pride and affection.
Margaret’s life was firmly rooted in her faith in Jesus Christ. She accepted the Lord at an early age and remained steadfast in her walk with Him throughout her life. A devoted and faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church for more than forty years, Margaret lived her Christian testimony through kindness, humility, and service to others. She trusted God’s Word, leaned on prayer in every season of life, and exemplified a quiet strength that reflected her unwavering faith. After relocating to Bowie, Maryland, in 2010, she continued to stand on God’s promises, finding peace, comfort, and assurance through her faith.
An adventurer at heart, Margaret enjoyed travel and fellowship. She was an active member of the Cheerettes, a social club whose members shared a love for travel, concerts, and the theater. Through these experiences, she traveled throughout the Caribbean, South America, and across the United States, creating cherished memories and lasting friendships.
Margaret also took immense pride in her appearance. She loved fashion and believed in being well put together at all times. Her clothes were carefully chosen, her shoes always matched, and her hair—without exception—impeccable. Whether it was Sunday morning service or a casual outing, Margaret did not leave the house unless she was polished from head to toe. Her signature style was simply an extension of the grace, confidence, and dignity she carried throughout her life.
And if you knew Margaret, you knew she had her essentials. A cold Pepsi, Juicy Fruit gum, and Wintergreen Lifesavers were part of her daily routine—no exceptions. Pepsi was the best cold, the Juicy Fruit was always within reach, and those Wintergreen Lifesavers were never missing. Spending time with Margaret often meant being offered gum or a mint, sometimes before you even realized you needed one. These favorites followed her everywhere and were enjoyed almost as much as her family, bringing smiles to those around her and becoming unforgettable little reminders of who she was.
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Lee Williams; her father, Lovette Williams Sr.; her sister, Mary Ann; her brother, Lovette Williams Jr.; her nephew, Paul Graham Sr.; and her nieces, Karen and Tracy Graham.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Dana; her devoted son‑in‑law, Shaun; her treasured grandson, Shaun Stuart; and a host of extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Margaret Williams Robinson will be remembered for her grace, quiet strength, steadfast faith, devotion to family, unmistakable sense of style, and the small everyday joys that made her uniquely her. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
