Maria N. Sfondilis

Maria N. Sfondilis, 82 years old, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Maria was born on November 2, 1942, to Nicholas and Panagiota Karvounis in Sparta, Greece. She and her family moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1958. In 1964, she met and married her loving husband, John Sfondilis. She was the loving wife of John Sfondilis for 61 years. She was also the loving mother of Pete Sfondilis (Emily) and the loving grandmother of JOHNNY Sfondilis. She is survived by her sister Eugenia Demos, brothers Demetrios and George Karvounis, brother-in-law Angelos (Helen) Sfondilis, many nieces and nephews, and Godchildren. Maria was an avid lover of flowers and enjoyed gardening. Most of all she took pride and dearly loved her grandson, JOHNNY. After retirement Maria enjoyed traveling with John, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Sfondilis will lie-in-state at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, 24 W. Preston Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201 on Friday, September 26, from 12:00- 12:30 PM with the Funeral Service to begin at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Cemetery, 2504 Cub Hill Road, Parkville, Maryland 21234.

In lieu of flowers, Maria wished instead that friends would consider a contribution to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation.
