Maria R. Townshend

Maria passed away suddenly from heart failure at Children’s Hospital on September 2, 2026. Maria was born in Silver Spring Maryland and grew up in Prince George’s County, completing her education at C. E. Rieg Special Center. While in school she loved swimming in the pool and she participated in the Special Olympics Challenge Day every year. Her personality was always happy and sweet. She went on many adventures with her family, including many trips to Disney World. She loved music, animals and fireworks and going to the movies.

Maria is survived by her parents, Woody and Melanie, devoted nannies Barbie and Liz and a large extended family. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 16th at the Beall Funeral Home in Bowie MD beginning at 10AM. A service will be conducted at 12PM followed immediately by interment at Atonement cemetery in Cheltenham, MD
