Mark Jackson was born to Marvin Jackson and Gloria Agnew on August 27, 1970, in Danville, Virginia. He grew up in Bowie, Md with his mother and brother, and spent most summers in Danville with his father, paternal grandmother, Georgia Anne, brother and extended family. Mark met Lisa Jones in 1993. They soon married and moved to Crossville, TN to raise their 6 children, Leanne, Kristie, Timothy, Kayla, Brandon and Alexis “Lexie”.
Mark was an experienced electrician and worked as a mechanic over the years as well. He loved drawing and spent many nights helping his children with school or 4-H projects. He coached both his daughters’ and sons’ sports teams, and rarely missed a game, practice or important moment in his children’s lives. Mark leaves a large legacy that includes his 6 children, 15 grandchildren (Kaylee, Carmella, Jensen, Charlie-Kate, Teigan, Kamdyn, Keegan, Emma, Bryson, Bo, Ben, Beckett, Sylas, Tinley and Lennox), 3 stepchildren (Samantha, Emily and Carl) and 3 step grandchildren (Hayden, Aurora and Dalton). Mark’s gently nature made him the favorite “PA” to all his grandkids. He is survived by his sisters Trisha and Susie and Brother Aubrey. Mark was preceded in death by his sisters Sharon and Nancy “Sissy”. In 2018 Mark moved back to Bowie and soon met Lisa Martin. They had an instant connection and shared 8 years together full of love, adventure and passion. In 2022, Mark and Lisa adopted Jackson, their Cavelier King Charles Spaniel fur-baby that rarely left his side, especially as Mark’s health declined.
Mark had a great work ethic and was usually working, tidying, building or fixing something. He loved fishing, boating, pool, cards and was sometimes spotted sitting at a casino playing poker or blackjack. He loved music, especially metal but would entertain most any genre – except “too much country music”. Mark’s sense of humor was quirky and inappropriate at times, but that just added to his unique personality that always lit up the room when he arrived. Mark had his own language that only his close friends and family understood --- and sometime even they didn’t really know what his sayings meant. Some of the best included “Kasaniahayakuku” (an affection term that could mean anything he chose that day), “What’s the matter for you, ha-ha” and many other that are most likely not fit for print.
Mark passed peacefully at home on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 1:07 AM surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the family home in Bowie, 11905 Chantilly Lane, Bowie, MD 20721. The family asks that anyone wishing to be added to the speaker list or contribute any memories for his eulogy to please reach out to Lisa Martin 301-518-3066.
