Mary Alice Fitzpatrick

May 12, 1950 — June 7, 2021

On Monday, June 7, 2021, Mary Alice Fitzpatrick, passed away at the age of 71.  Mary was born in Washington DC on May 12, 1950 to Mary Alice Brocken Simms and Wilson Howard Simms.  Mary’s biological mother passed away just 9 days after her birth.  Mary was then lovingly raised in Montgomery County MD by Ruth Simms, Wilson Simms’ second wife.

Mary had a wonderful gift for decorating and cooking.  She loved gardening, reading, antiques, shopping, boating, fishing and spending time with her family.  She had a feisty independent spirit which enabled her to raise two children, Brenda and Jamie, at a very young age essentially by herself.  She was generous with her family and friends and enjoyed taking her grandchildren on shopping excursions.  Mary always made sure Christmas was special.  She had tremendous courage and a desire to overcome the challenges of her autoimmune diagnosis, C.R.E.S.T. Syndrome and was often referred to as the “Energizer Bunny” and “Miracle Mary”.  She remained active, kept her sense of humor, forgiveness of others and a hopeful zest for life until the very end.

She was preceded in death by her late husband and love of her life, Jared Fuchs, her step-mother Ruth Simms, father Wilson Howard Simms, mother Mary Alice Brocken Simms, sister Kay Clark, niece and nephew, Deneen and Gregory Clark, aunt and uncle, Marvin and George Brocken.  She is survived by her two daughters Brenda Lee Miller and Jamie Lynn Crowder, her grandchildren Madison Taylor Beatty Robinson, Benjamin Preston James Beatty and Jordan Elizabeth Kahler, her brother Keith Simms and her two “favorite” son-in-laws, Steven Miller and Edward Crowder.
