Mary Lee Watson

October 17, 1980 – August 27, 2022

Mary Lee Watson died on August 27th, 2022 of organ failure.  Mary’s life was epitomized by love and friendship for her family, friends, and pets.  She and her Dad were extremely close and shared the trials and tribulations of each other’s lives.  She and her Mom, brother and sister loved each other unconditionally.  Mary’s friends developed a rapport with her that would last her lifetime.

A large part of Mary’s life was her unconditional love for animals.  Her friends and family referred to her as the Dog Whisper because all pets responded to her so beautifully; they seemed to sense the love that she had for them.  Her most beloved pet was Peabody whom she rescued from a shelter while living in Conway, South Carolina with her sister, Leigh, while attending college.  When she returned home Peabody would wait for her at our mailbox all day until she returned home from work.  He never needed a leash and never wondered away from our home.  Peabody had many friends who would come visit him throughout the day including our mailman who knew that her dog was waiting for Mary to return and who would stop to get out and pet him.

Mary had a big heart and loved everyone she knew indiscriminately regardless if they were five or seventy-five.  Some of her best friends were in their seventies when she was only in her twenties and thirties.

Mary is survived by her father, Donald; her mother, Karen; her sister, Leigh; and her brother, Brian.  She is deeply loved by her family and friends and will be truly missed, and I know we will all be together again.
