May Hill, 101, of Bowie, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 21, 1924 in Kingston, Jamaica, to Isaac Hill and Agatha Wallace.
As a child, May spent part of her early years in Maroon Town, St. James, where she was raised by her grandmother, Lydia Watson. She later returned to Kingston, where she developed a strong work ethic, learned sewing, and helped her mother with the family bakery. May committed her life to Jesus Christ in the 1950's and became a devoted member of Duke Street United Church. Her faith in God and dedication to her church remained central throughout her life.
May was known for her generous spirit and compassionate heart. She enjoyed singing during her morning devotions, sewing, cooking, and spending cherished time with her family. May also enjoyed traveling and was blessed with opportunities to visit London and spend time in Germany with her son and his family. In 2000, May migrated to the United States, where she spent the remainder of her life with her daughter Jacqueline and family. She treasured every opportunity to be with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
May is blessed with six children, Genevieve, Paulette, Jacqueline (Philmore), Vivienne, Glenroy, and the late Devon. She leaves to chriesh her memory nine grandchildren: Shauna, Kimesha, Jodi-Ann (Paul), Brian, Marsha, Chris, Stacy-Ann, Jordan, and Shaniece; eleven great grand-children; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
