Michael Joseph Cappello

Michael Joseph Cappello, beloved husband of Peta Cappello, passed away peacefully at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, on Tuesday, May 23. In his 66 years, he touched innumerable people with his kindness, empathy, generosity, and wit. He was caring and selfless, he loved his family and friends, and he loved helping people. Mike was born in Schenectady, New York, and was predeceased by his parents, MaryAnn Cappello (Van Zandt) and Patrick Cappello of Vero Beach, Florida, and his sister Gina Cappello. He will be sorely missed by his sisters Anne Cappello (Lawrence Subia), Patricia Cappello (Lawrence Redmond), and Janine Fraleigh (Shawn Fraleigh), his sisters-in-law Marcia Judges (Peter Judges), Sheral Wright (Robert Meiring), and Frances Haig, his brothers-in-law Nicolas Holt (Maxine Holt) and Jean Holt (Elizabeth Holt), and numerous nephews, nieces, and godchildren.

Mike was an Eagle Scout, Troop 357, a National Merit Scholar, and a cadet in the Coast Guard Academy. He was a proud ambassador of Infinite Legacy for organ donation, he volunteered for DoKindWorks.org and Warm Nights for the homeless, and he was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Glenn Dale, Maryland.
