Nicholas Keith

Nicholas Gloster Poindexter Keith was born to Nicholas Poindexter and Mildred Gloster Keith November 11,1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His father died before Nick was born. His mother then married Harold Keith. His mother Mildred died when Nick was 11 years of age. His step father married Margorie Keith and Nick lived with his step parents until he completed high school. While growing up in Pittsburgh, Nick enjoyed playing the clarinet in the city's youth choir until his mother passed.

Immediately following his graduation from high school, he moved to Houston, Texas to attend Texas Soutern University where his uncle Dr. Jesse Gloster headed the Economics Department. Nick majored in mathematics achieving a BS and a Masters in mathematics. He also had a Masters degree from Rice University in Houston.

While attending TSU, Nick met Patricia Pennington. They were married for 66 years. They had a son Osiris.

Patricia and Osiris preceded Nick in passing.

His half brother Harold and his step brother Terry also preceded him in passing.

There are a host of cousins that mourn Nick's passing as his mother Mildred comes from a family of nine children. We will miss Nick's robust laughter, his sense of humor. and his hospitality.

He enjoyed participating in family celebrations and our family reunions. He also enjoyed playing chess and listening to music from the elaborate sound system in his home with Pat. He never forgot Uncle Jesse and Aunt Norma. We love
