Pat H. Catignani, 87, of Bowie, Maryland, beloved father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Pat lived the early years of his life in Italy and, after immigrating to the United States, came to call Weirton, West Virginia home. He was the son of the late August and Adelina M. DiPasquale Catignani. Pat was preceded in death by his brothers, Domenic Catignani and Hugo Catignani.

After completing his education, Pat proudly served in the United States Army. Thereafter, he was on the leading edge of technology and an early adopter of personal computing. Pat made the move to the big city of Washington D.C., where he worked as a computer programmer for various private companies, eventually spending the majority of his career with the federal government working in information technology.

Never forgetting his roots, Pat frequently returned to his hometown of Weirton and beyond to spend time with his cherished extended family from their small village in Italy. Distance was of no concern to him; Pat was a constant presence at every family function. With a lighthearted, easygoing way about him, family members of all generations, both close and extended, were drawn to Pat and greatly appreciated the role he played in their lives.

Pat lived a full life pursuing many talents and interests; skilled athlete, beloved youth sports coach, fitness enthusiast, avid golfer, frequent traveler throughout the United States and the world, and keeping ever-current with technology, to name a few. He also was passionate about gardening and cars. The family welcomed many pets into their home over the years, with Pat having a special place in his heart for their adopted Doberman pinscher, Reds.

Pat possessed an unwavering love and deep commitment to his family and will be dearly missed by his adoring children, Claudia, Christa, Cassandra, Caryn (Kevin), and Christopher, and his grandchildren, Gavin, Domenic, and Carter, through whom his legacy will continue.
