Patricia Ann Blake, age 78, of Odenton, Maryland, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 6th at Spring Arbor Crofton where she had resided the past 5 years in the Memory Cottage as she battled Alzheimer’s. The family is deeply grateful for the love and care provided by the staff at Spring Arbor Crofton.
Born in Washington, D.C. on March 12, 1947 the daughter of the late Robert and Marion Scheel. Her brother, Bobby, and sister, Karen, preceded her death.
She is survived by her son, William (Bill) Blake, and daughter, Jennifer Blake as well as 4 grandchildren - Christopher, Amanda, Alexander and Katelyn. In addition she was blessed with 7 great grandchildren - Talia, Clark, Landon, Jackson, Henry, Clara and Spencer.
The first in her family to attend college, she completed a couple years at University of Maryland and remained a Terrapins fan her entire life. Living in Odenton since 1974 she rooted for the Baltimore Orioles and later years when the Baltimore Ravens franchise was formed she became a huge fan. She loved her Ravens purple color and even attended a game at M&T Bank stadium.
A homemaker until her children began elementary school, Patricia (or Patty as some knew her) returned to work part-time as an office administrator. Her intelligence and aptitude for numbers led to work full time as an Accounts Payable Specialist for a government contractor until she retired in the Fall of 2018.
As a mother, grandparent and friend to many, she loved each person for who they were. Her gifts for birthdays and holidays were always tailored specifically to that loved one. She will be deeply missed, but we know heaven has gained an intelligent, extremely organized and compassionate angel to keep things in order. We love her, but we know she would say, she loves us more!
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 14th at 3:00pm at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, Md. The family will receive visitors from 2-3pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
