Patricia Lee Hackley, affectionately known as Pat, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 28, 1940, to LeRoy Johnston and Mildred Murphy. Pat grew up in Laurel, Maryland, and went on to a fulfilling career with the federal government for over 35 years (lastly with the Federal Bureau of Prisons). Pat received numerous awards and accolades during her service for her professionalism, dedication, commitment, and trust worthiness. She was the"go to" woman to make things happen and get the job done. Pat left the federal government in 1995 and enjoyed her retirement years with husband Ron Hackley in Crofton, Maryland, where she gardened and had a great love for all animals, especially the occasional stray cat that would cross her path. She was our Ellie Mae Clampett!
Pat is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ronald C. Hackley, her brother Jim Johnston (Kathleen Johnston) of California, her daughters Deborah Armstrong (Jesse Armstrong) and Donna Schneider (Ed Schneider) both of Florida. She was predeceased by her daughter Lynnsey Hough (Murray Hough) and her siblings Sharon Johnston Smith, and Michael Johnston. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Michael Armstrong, Brooke Armstrong Pollack (Ryan Pollack), John Hough, and Matt Hough, and many friends.
To know Pat was to love her. Sometimes, it was a tough love, but just what you needed. She was a loving wife and mother, a friend, confidant, caregiver, and a helpful hand to others. We will forever be grateful for her time that was gifted to us and she will live in our hearts until we meet again.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity be considered.
