Patricia Murphy Stamato, age 87, of Crofton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Born on September 24, 1938, in Bronx, New York, Patricia was the daughter of Peter Murphy and Irene Sweeney Murphy.
Patricia, better known to her friends and family as “Pat,” was a woman of warmth, strength, loyalty, and adventure. Throughout her life, she lived in various states and countries including Libson, Portugal where she attended St. Julian’s School, Japan, Virigina, Ohio, Michigan, Maryland and Texas.
Pat served in the U.S. Air Force until 1960 and went on to hold positions with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., as well as the Department of Navy later in life. Amongst all her roles and titles; however, Pat will be most fondly remembered for her role as loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to those she leaves behind.
Pat met her late husband, John Anthony Stamato in Maryland in 1960, and they married in 1961. After starting their family, Pat quickly began instilling that same sense of adventure in her young children with extraordinary tales, frequent camping trips, and a contagious excitement for trying new things.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband John. She is survived by her three children John (Lisette) Stamato, Kathryn Stamato, and Joseph (Karen) Stamato. Her grandchildren Rebecca Stamato, Victoria Stamato, Jack Stamato, Jacob Harkey, Jonathan (Sydney) Harkey, Mary Stamato, Michael (Etta) Stamato, Anna Stamato, and Molly Stamato, and two great-granddaughters, Willow and Serenity Stamato. Her siblings Kathleen (William) Nuttall, Dennis (MaryEllen) Murphy, Don Stoddard, Ronald (Teresa) Stoddard, Marie (Edward) Duess, and Joyce Hillman, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on April 16 from 2pm to 3pm. Followed by a
memorial service from 3pm to 4pm at the Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, Maryland.
Funeral services will be private.
