Berez, his mother Ray L. Berez and first wife Dr. Jane Daniel Berez.

Born on June 29, 1952 in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Berez grew up in the Sacramento, CA area and attended Sacramento State University before studying medicine at George Washington University.   He did his residency at PG County Hospital, worked for various institutions and in private practice where he left an indelible mark on the communities he served.

Throughout his life, Dr. Berez exemplified dedication and passion in his profession as an Internal Medicine/Primary Care physician with specialized knowledge of diabetes care as published in New England Journal of Medicine.

Beyond his career accomplishments, Dr. Berez’s greatest joy stemmed from his role as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  His unwavering love, guidance, and support enriched the lives of his family members, his extended family, and his many patients, leaving them with cherished memories and profound gratitude.

In the last few days of his life, Dr. Berez was cared for by the physicians and nurses at the Medstar Washington Hospital Center.  The family especially thanks Dr. Jeffrey Mai and his team for the sensitive care provided.
