Paul Joseph Carroll entered into eternal life on March 15, 2023, after a recent diagnosis of pancreatic and liver cancer. Paul was born August 2, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Albert and Catherine (Myers) Carroll. After graduating from Ramsey High School, Paul attended the University of Scranton where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree.

Paul married Claire Marie Ryan on August 8, 1959 in Mahwah, New Jersey. Together they had five children. Paul began his career as a Purchasing Agent for the Archdiocese of Newark, New Jersey, and later became the Business Administrator for the Township of Mahwah, New Jersey.  Paul accepted a position as a Real Estate Appraiser with HUD in Washington, D.C. and he moved his family to Bowie, Maryland in 1972. After a long career with the Federal Government, Paul retired from the General Services Administration in 2000.

Paul and Claire retired in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, but returned to Maryland after Claire was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Throughout her long journey with Alzheimer’s, Paul visited Claire multiple times a day to make sure all of her needs were being met.

Paul and Claire traveled extensively and made wonderful memories along the way. For years they enjoyed vacationing in the Outer Banks with family and friends. Paul visited 48 of the 50 states, missing only Oregon and Iowa. Paul was dedicated to faithfully serving the Church, his family and his community through his work with the Moose, Elks Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Hibernians, and the Knights of Columbus. Paul regularly joined his friends for dinner and dancing at the Moose Lodge and for lunch and fellowship with the Y.O.R.K. Club at the Knights of Columbus in Bowie.

Paul will be remembered for his great smile, friendly personality and his gift of gab. He was an avid reader, rarely missed Tucker Carlson Tonight, and loved sending emails to friends and family. Paul always had a joke or a trivia question ready to share in person or through email. His sense of humor endeared him to the countless people he met throughout his 87 years of life.

Paul is preceded in death by his beloved wife Claire, parents, Albert and Catherine Carroll, his sister Barbara, brother Kenneth, and many relatives and friends. Paul is survived and lovingly remembered by his children: Julia Alos, Anita Atwood (Samuel), Michael Carroll (Kimberly), Paul Carroll (Cynthia), and Pamela Silvers.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jessica Owenby, Caitlyn Silvers, Allison Silvers, Geordan Alos, Ashlyn Carroll, Tristan Carroll and Colin Carroll; three great grandchildren: Kayla Booz, Laney Owenby, and Evan Owenby.
