Paulette Bernadette McCree, 77, departed this life peacefully January 3, 2024, with her family by her side. Born November 22, 1946, in Washington, DC, Paulette was the oldest daughter of the late Ethel E. McCree Burton. Departed siblings Wilhelmina Newman and Ray M. McCree precedes her.

 

Paulette went to the District of Columbia Public School System, graduating from Spingarn High School in 1966. She successfully completed business studies at Strayer Business College 1968. On July 25, 1969, Rendell Kenneth McCree was born. Paulette worked in the food service and office supply industries until completing her work career as a special police officer at the Smithsonian Institution with over 50 years of combined service.

Paulette was compassionate and sociable, yet firm, self-sufficient, and industrious. She maintained a consistent life-balance as a single parent. She accepted Christ at an early age and continued her Catholic faith throughout her life.

Paulette enjoyed watching British films, reading novels, weekend casino getaways, playing tennis and cooking. She was a loving mother to her son, granddaughter, daughter-in-law. Paulette was a selfless advocate for family and friends.

Paulette leaves to cherish in her memory: son, Rendell McCree; daughter-in-law, Veronica McCree; granddaughter, Rhyan McCree; sister, Althelia Warren; brother-in-law, Anthony Warren, and Ellsworth Newman; aunt, Dorothy Anthony; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
