On January 22nd, 1927, Pearl Boyd was born in Arvonia, Virginia to Charlie Carter and Janie Carter. She peacefully transitioned to be eternally with the Lord on Saturday January 17, 2026.
Upon humble beginnings Pearl was initially raised in rural surroundings In Buckingham County Virginia. However, during her teenage years and maturation she developed a yearning to achieve educational goals in a city environment. With her father's approval, she moved to Baltimore, MD. living with her Aunt Lucille to pursue opportunities to enhance her God Given potential. She was determined to earn her place in life. This characteristic would later offer meaningful experiences.
Pearl became devotedly rooted in the Pentecostal Faith and church services while living in Baltimore. She later developed a fervent desire to participate in non-denominational spiritual practices becoming a member of such organizations as "Unity Center of Christianity Church" and the "Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness" with a strong belief in God greatly influenced by her contemporaries. Much later in life she grew into becoming a keen observer of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. Her philosophy, whether rooted in teachings or worship, fostered compassion and humanitarianism. But this was Pearl by nature along with being extremely intelligent. She was also very creative, for which she displayed a gift and strong passion for writing poetry.
Her career life was highlighted by jobs as a unit clerk at the Washington Hospital Center and later at District Government with the Department of Environmental Services as an Administrative Assistant from which she retired in 1991. Peal fostered many loving friendships during her time with us. She was a beautiful, joyful soul inside and out. Everyone who crossed her path emitted positive energy. Furthermore, she was a proud and loving parent.
During her life's path on this earth, Pearl entered matrimony once to Bennie Boyd Jr. in 1950 (later divorced) who unfortunately passed away in August 2017.
She leaves to cherish her legacy and memory her son, Ronald Boyd (her other two sons David and James Boyd predeceased her); daughter in-law Theresa Boyd; granddaughters Virletia Holland, Melinda Boyd, Dandrea Johnson, Jasmine Boyd, and Miracle Johns; grandson James Boyd Jr.; fourteen greatgrandchildren including Mikayla Boyd, Andre Boyd, Alicia Holland, Alayna Holland, Akayla Holland, Anaudia Holland, Javon Holland, Jaliel Holland, Decari Holland, De'Mari Holland, Taylor Bieker, Faith Johnson, Trinity Johnson, and Nadiya Johnson; four great-great grandchildren and many dear friends.
