Phyllis M. Varga

Phyllis was born in Buffalo, New York on May 18, 1934, the daughter of Florence and Rudolph Ribbeck.  Her siblings were Taylor, Irene, Joan, and Beverly.  

Phyllis joined the Navy out of high school and was working at the Pentagon outside Washington DC where she met her future husband, Roger Varga.  Together they raised 3 children, Dan (wife Patty), Gale, and Doug (wife Sue). Mom adored her 3 grandchildren Sarah Grubbs, Nick Varga and Derek Varga and her 2 great grandchildren Mitchell Burchfield and Ava Grubbs.  

Her young family moved around a bit, living in England, Maryland, New York, and Florida, before settling into Bowie, Maryland where she lived for the past 50 years.   

Her favorite things in life were watching her children playing sports, talking to friends and family about all their life events, being a homemaker, and visiting her brother Taylor and his family Sparkle, Donna, and Rudy in Charlotte North Carolina. She really enjoyed, and had a talent for, fixing things. This included all the electronics in the house including appliances such as the dishwasher, washing machine or anything else that had broken. Researching and fixing things made her so proud. Her friends on many occasions also reaped the benefit of those skills.  

Phyllis was very loved and will be sorely missed. She will be held in our hearts until we can hold her again in heaven.
