Raymond Kurtz passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at Bowie Assisted Living in Bowie, MD, with his loving wife holding his hand at his bedside.
Raymond was born in Washington, DC, July 8, 1942. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired in 2006.
Ray enjoyed growing up in Southwest Washington. He spent many hours with his brothers and childhood friends at the Metropolitan Police Boys Club #4, where he was known as RayRay. He loved boxing and enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. He loved traveling and cruising with his wife Aggie. One of his favorite cruises was with his childhood friends to the Mediterranean.
In addition to his parents, Clarence Kurtz and Helen (Tonker) Kurtz, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry (Gerald) Dorr, Nick (Clarence), Richard and Lloyd Kurtz.
Ray will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Agnes Given Kurtz, whom he married January 31, 1970, as well as his brother, George Kurtz, and sister, Jenny (Elizabeth) Starkey Willis, several nieces and nephews and four special childhood friends, Donny (Benito) Cabrera, Bob (Robert) Stewart, Mike and Willie Divver.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
