Richard Morse Galleher

October 14, 1943 — April 22, 2025

Born in Long Island NY and spent his early years in officers quarters at the US Merchant Marine academy boating and sailing with his sister Betty and brother Jack. During his teen years he went to Panama When his dad was establishing the Refineria Panama. He worked for the Panama Canal arranging ship timing for entry into the Canal. He attended Loyola and earned his undergraduate degree in Economics followed by Iowa State University for his masters in Economy. He spent his summers between college painting houses, often with his nephew Paul Bernsten. He was head of the Economic Department of the AFL-CIO until his retirement when he became a private consultant for the PG County, Maryland Fraternal Order of Police. An avid Athlete in swimming, football, racquetball and most passionate about sailing. Growing up around the Merchant Marine Academy in NY and competing with his Sister, "Captain Betty" on sailing trips in the Chesapeake bay, MD and the Virgin Islands; He loved the sea and his families passion for it as well. Preceded in death by his parents: John King Galleher and Laura Elizabeth (Morse) Galleher. Sisters Mary Jane Galleher and Elizabeth Galleher Bernsten. Brother in law; Bernard Bernsten. Nephew; John B. Bernsten. Great Neices Rachael Panneton and Leanna Bernsten. Survived by wife; Carol Marion Marks. Daughters; Tiffany Kaye Edmonds and Tricia Annette Galleher. Brother; John King Galleher, Jr. and Sister in law Mary Vera Galleher. Nephews and Nieces; Thomas Kryzcki & Wendy Corbino, Paul Bernsten, Mary Liz Bernsten, Joe & Cathy Bernsten, Theresa Bernsten; Marybeth and Hugh Blocker, Kathy Galleher, John and Carolyn Galleher, Debbie and Bob Smith, Michael Galleher and Jodi Jost, Christine and Fred Hicks. Grandchildren; Mari and Kevin Taylor, Hunter and Kaitlynn Edmonds, Seth and Kathleena Edmonds, Samantha Edmonds, Angelina Edmonds and Adam Carbaugh. Great Grandchildren; Audrey Frances Taylor, Dash Wesley Edmonds, Memphis Lavon Curtis, Ezra Lynn Edmonds, Theodora Kaye and Klaire Denise Edmonds; as well as many beloved great nieces and nephews.
