Richard Lee Phelps Jr.

Gambrills Md. Richard Lee Phelps JR. 60, died from COVID-19 complications July 9, 2021 at George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC. He was born on Christmas Day, December 25th 1960 in Baltimore Md, the son of Richard L Phelps Sr. and Harriet Rudigier Fisher.

Rick graduated from Harford Vocational High School with the class of 1979. He married Susan Antonelli in 1982. Rick enlisted and honorably served with the United States Army from 1982-2001.  During his enlistment, he was stationed in Germany, Texas, and California. After retiring from the Army, he was a  correctional officer with the State of California and Prince Georges County where he finally retired in Gambrills Md.

Rick had many hobbies including motorcycling, model rocketry, fishing, coin collecting and the Washington Redskins, but what he truly enjoyed the most was attending his kids sporting events, sharing his love of horses, classic rock, nature, and his many pets with his two youngest children, Nick and Gabriella. Rick was loved by all and will be dearly missed, but we take comfort in knowing that he is looking down upon us with all those that have passed before us. 

Rick was predeceased by his parents, Richard L Phelps Sr. and Harriet Fisher, father in-law Anthony Paul Antonelli Sr, and his second son, Eric Anthony Phelps. He is survived by his wife, Susan Marie Phelps, his sons Richard Rudigier Phelps, Nicholas Joseph Phelps, his daughter, Gabriella Marie Phelps, Grandchildren Dominic and Kainan Phelps, his sister Raj Inder Kaur Khalsa and nephews Siri Gurmukh Singh, Gurprakash Singh Khalsa. His brother Mark Phelps, nieces Lindsey and Rachel and nephew Stephen Phelps, mother in-law, Carolyn Antonelli, brother and sister in-law, Jeff and Christine Antonelli Cox, nephews Ryan and Matthew Cox, brother and sister in-law, Frank and Layah Antonelli, nephew Santino Antonelli and niece Sofia Antonelli and brother in-laws, Anthony and Michael Antonelli.

Visitation will be held at Beall Funeral Home, Bowie, Md on Thursday 7/15/2021, 6pm-9pm.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday 07/16/2021 at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church. Repast will be hosted by brother in-law and sister in-law Jeff and Christine Antonelli Cox , 703 Casimir Way, Gambrills Md.
