Robert Joseph De Leonibus
(Roberto Guiseppe) “Bob” age 91, of Mitchellville, MD
Robert was born on June 7, 1934, son of Antonio and Ercolina De Leonibus, and was the loving husband of the late Barbara De Leonibus (McCoy).
Robert was the father of Robert Jr. (Judith), the late Martin Sr., Lawrence Sr. (Dorothy), Vincent, and Antonio (Kimberly). He was a proud grandfather to Martin II (Laura), Lawrence II, Julie, Robert III (Ileana), Christina, Angela (Ben), Amanda, Patrick (Jordan), Antonio II, Elizabeth, and Andrea (Patrick), as well as a cherished great-grandfather to many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Born during the Great Depression, Robert often described how things got consistently better throughout his life. He experienced a terrific home-life as a child, as he was surrounded by 3 older brothers and an older sister, Louisa, who catered to Robert as he was the baby of the family. From a young age through high school, Robert excelled at athletics, earning All Metropolitan first-string in football. After high school, he went onto D&D Service with his brother Angelo, and Robert also founded D&D Tire Co. in 1952. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Barbara McCoy. They were blessed with many happy years of marriage and 5 sons in just six years. Robert was a devout Catholic who regularly attended mass at Holy Rosary Church (the same church which he was baptized at). Robert successfully ran D&D Service up until over the age of 90 years old.
Robert had an overwhelming love toward his family, he enjoyed spending time with his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Robert was passionate about his prayer life, family and work. As he aged, he enjoyed spending time with his customers and talking on the phone. His family was his vocation and he treated them as such. He put his heart and soul into the well being of his family, and it is safe to say that if you were fortunate enough to meet him, you could rest assured that you were certainly included in his prayers. Robert also had a wonderful sense of humor, he loved to tell old stories and joked with everyone. He will be greatly missed and has left great memories that will be imprinted on our hearts forever.
