Crofton

On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, Robert (Bob) S. Kerno Sr, of Crofton, MD, husband of Joan M. Kerno for over 66 years passed away peacefully after a brief illness. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Stephen and Lucy Kerno and his brother, Frank Kerno.  He is survived by his children Robert S. Kerno Jr. (Teddi) and Kimberly A. Campbell; three grandchildren Kevin Kerno (Karen), Sarah Murillo and Allison Campbell and two great grandchildren Isabella Murillo and Julian Robert Murillo. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bob graduated from High School in Darby, Pennsylvania before serving in the United States Marine Corps.

Bob and Joan moved to Bowie, Maryland in the early 1960’s where he served a long and successful career as Vice President of Wilcox Walter Furlong Paper Company. The couple moved to Crofton, Maryland in 1964 and were one of the first homeowners in what was to become one of the most respected communities in the region. Bob was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Crofton Country Club. He always enjoyed inviting his foursome in for a cold beverage at his house right behind the fourth tee. Bob also loved the Washington Redskins and was a season ticket holder for over 55 years.

Bob and Joan eventually retired to their waterfront home in Ocean Pines Maryland. Bob loved boating, fishing, crabbing, eating at fine restaurants and working out at the gym. He was always glad when his family would visit and never missed a chance to beach the boat on Assateague Island. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the country visiting his children and grandchildren. You could always count on Pop to be at birthdays, graduations, and Military events. Bob was extremely well respected by his family, friends and business colleagues. He was a savvy businessman, extremely generous and a loyal friend.

The family requests that any donations be made to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation 1133 15th Street NW Suite 1000 Washington, DC 20005
