Listen to Obituary

Robert Henry Mezzack of Horntown, VA, died Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Bob, known playfully by his siblings as “the Great No-un,” was the oldest child and only son of retired Air Force Lt. Col. Henry F. and Emeline “Emmy” Mezzack. Bob grew up in Bowie, Maryland, and graduated in 1970 from Bowie Senior High School where he played football for the Bowie Bulldogs and could be found driving around in his prized possession – his red Ford Mustang. Bob always wanted but never got a brother, but he enjoyed roughhousing with his sisters who were all the better for it because it taught them to be tough. Probably the person who Bob most considered a brother was his lifelong friend, Ralph Lange.

Bob was no stranger to hard work and often worked two or three jobs to support his growing family. He worked as a Department of Defense contractor for nearly 50 years, most recently for RKF Engineering, supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency’s protection of military radio frequency spectrum operations.

Bob was a person who loved his family and friends and was quick with a joke and a hearty laugh. When not involved in a woodworking project or cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys, he loved nothing more than horsing around with his children and grandchildren and was proud of them all. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his daughter, Julie Walford (Dennis), and his sister, Kathleen Redmond. He is survived by his daughter Teri White (Mark), his son, Derik, six grandchildren, his sisters, Janet, Sharon, and Linda, 10 nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews and his former wife, Valorie Page. Bob will be deeply missed and remembered with love.

The family requests that any donations in Bob’s memory be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org/donate or the American Diabetes Association.
