Robert "Mickey" Parreco
We are saddened to announce the passing of Robert “Mickey” Parreco who left us on February 17, 2026 at the age of 85. Mickey was born and raised in Northeast Washington, D.C.
The friends he made as a kid from Turkey Thicket truly became lifelong as they all continue to reunite for regular luncheons. He took tremendous pride in helping to organize these get-togethers over the years.A proud veteran, who served during the Vietnam War, Mickey was a devoted member of the Disabled American Veterans Omaha Beach #7. His time spent there brought many years of joy.
He spent his career as a heavy equipment operator, a role he took great pride in. All those years digging basements and Metro lines in Washington, D.C. made his directions more reliable than any app. He knew how to get anywhere in the DMV. He relished taking a ride and going the scenic route.Mickey was an avid outdoorsman, and if his stories are to be believed, quite possibly the best fisherman who ever lived. He was similarly instrumental in keeping Maryland’s deer population under control. It’s difficult to say which he loved more, the actual hunting and fishing or hanging out with his buddies swapping stories about the ones that got away.He was a proud father and grandfather.
A celebration of his life will be held April 30 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the American Legion, 6900 Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt, MD 20770. Burial will be private.
