Rodrick Charles Wiser

March 21, 1943 — December 28, 2022

Wiser – Rodrick (Roddy) - 79, formerly of Landover Hills and Upper Marlboro, MD passed away peacefully on December 28, 2022.  Born March 21, 1943, in Riverdale, Maryland.  Son of the late Elton (Poppy) and (Mary) Loretta (Granny) Wiser of Riverdale, MD.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years Carol Ann Wiser, daughter Tracey Lynn Wiser (Lusby, MD) and sister Joan Mae Little ( Wiser) (Landover Hills, MD).  Survived by his children; Shannon (Christopher) Corcoran (Crownsville, MD) and Shawn (Betty) Wiser (Gambrills, MD); brother Elton Wiser (Riverdale, MD); brother-in-law, “Ted” (Cindi) Askew (Pelzer, SC); grandchildren, James Milton Wiser, Tyler (Jordan) Wiser, Ryan Christopher Corcoran, Courtney Paige Corcoran and Marissa Nicole Wiser.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Roddy was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church in Largo and Riverdale, MD for 55 years.  He loved the Lord, family, cars and his cats; he will be sadly missed by his cat Snickers and his granddogs Sophie and Lawson.

Roddy loved to take family vacations with his sister and brother-in-law’s family every summer. They visited almost every state and saw many memorable attractions. Roddy was a plumber by trade and a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #5 for over 47years.  He was a tradesman at heart and could build or fix anything.   Roddy was a quiet man but showed love and compassion for everyone around him, from helping neighbors and family on their home projects to his faithful tithing to the church and charities.  He built the 3rd floor to the family house in Landover Hills and built his home in Upper Marlboro.  He had a love for cars, motorcycles and bowling.  Cars were his true passion, some of his favorites: a brand new 1967 Ford (he was a Ford man), Mustang GT 350, orange Ford van (which he customized with orange shag carpet), his 1971 Triumph Chopper and mom’s 1957 Ford Thunderbird.  His Friday night ritual was bowling with his men’s travel team and bringing home Pizza Oven meatball subs. Most of all Roddy (Granddaddy) loved his family and friends, his favorite times and memories were when he was with all of them.

Roddy’s love and passion for life will be greatly missed by all of us.

Dad, We love You!
