Always and forever in our hearts, In Loving Memory of Ronald Asaka

March 17, 1935 – July 28, 2026

Born in Pasadena, California on March 17, 1935, Ronald Asaka was the beloved son of Harry Asaka and Irene Sato. Ronald was summoned by the Lord from his home in Bowie on July 28, 2026 at 3:19 pm at the age of 91 to peacefully enter into eternal rest.

He married his wife, Chiyo in 1958 and 5 years later, they purchased a home together in Maryland where he raised his children and spent the remainder of his days.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 68 years; his six children, Laura, Ellen, Melissa, Stephanie, Amanda and Joshua; his seven grandchildren, Randy, Joey, Nicole, Julian, Matthew, Cara and Devin; and seven great-grandchildren. Ronald is also survived by his beloved aunt Ila; his brothers, Dennis and John, several nephews and nieces as well as other extended family and friends who will deeply miss him.

Ronald was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Irene; his aunts Josie, Florence, Mary; and his uncle Roger. He also was predeceased by two of his grandchildren, Julie and Christopher, both children of his eldest daughter, taken away too soon.

As a long time resident of Maryland and Washington DC, Ronald graduated from McKinley Tech High School. He was an excellent student and excelled in math and many other subjects. Ronald was so bright, he graduated from high school a year early. He then attended the University of Maryland for 3 years majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Growing up, Ronald helped work in his father's grocery store and family restaurant. He also worked at Hogentogler & Co, Metropolitan Life Insurance, Banker's Life & Casualty Co., and Halifax Engineering. Before he retired, Ronald worked as a Computer Contractor for the Government. In addition, he sold Fuller Brush and Nikken products.

In his younger days, Ronald played a variety of sports including baseball, basketball, and tennis. Ronald was also an avid golfer and won various trophies. In addition, Ronald was a devoted sports fan and proudly cheered for the Washington Nationals, the former Washington Redskins, and the Washington Wizards. As a huge fan of Tennis, he attended many local events and supported a diversity of players over the years. He played tennis well into his seventies.

Ronald was fond of animals and kids. He loved playing with them. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. They meant everything to Ronald. He treasured their time together. He was an enthusiastic photographer and took lots of family photos and videos.

Ronald's favorite hobbies included going to the beach, swimming, body surfing, fishing, snorkeling, playing cards and board games. He also kept himself entertained bowling, traveling, going on cruises and dancing. He discovered contra dancing as an empty nester, which became one of his preferred pastimes. Over the last few years before his health declined, Ronald spent time with his wife dancing at the neighborhood Senior Center.

Ronald leaves behind a legacy of devotion to God, family and country. He was a faithful congregant of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for almost 50 years. Having lived a full life, he spent decades in a variety of positions in the church including working as a Church-service missionary, taking care of the chapel, preforming duties in the Home Storage Center and the Temple, doing genealogy work, as well as being responsible for numerous member families in many other callings.

Ronald also served in the United States Army Reserve. He was stationed in Bamburg, Germany and was honorably discharged after serving 2 years active military service from October 1, 1957 to September 15, 1959 attaining the rank of Specialist Four.

Ronald was known as a quiet man when in groups of people, but he had a great personality and sense of humor. When he laughed, he could light up any room. He had a special way of bringing a smile to your face, whether mimicking the snickering dog Muttley, drawing silly caricatures, making funny facial expressions or simply trying to surprise his children by sneaking up on them when returning home from work.

Ronald's life was a testament to the value of knowing where you come from and the memories that connect one generation to the next. Despite obstacles throughout the years, Ronald worked hard to keep his family together. Though Ronald's earthly journey has ended, the fun times he shared, and the roots that shaped his life will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him.

While our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing Ronald is now reunited with his parents and other loved ones, in the sacred presence of our Heavenly Father. His beautiful smile, kind soul, unwavering devotion and mischievous nature will remain in our hearts forever.

Ronald's body is currently being preserved at the Beall Funeral Home at 6512 Crain Hwy in Bowie, MD 20715. Flowers, trees and gifts may be ordered on their Website in his honor.

The Viewing and Funeral Services will be held on Saturday August 15, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Viewing begins at 12:00 pm with the Funeral Services starting at 1:00 pm.

The church is located at 16621 Sylvan Drive, Bowie, Maryland 20715 with Bishop John Merrick Presiding. As an Army Veteran, Ronald will be buried with military honors.

The burial will take place at the George Washington Cemetery on 9500 Riggs Road, Adelphi, MD 20783. There will be a Motorcade Procession from the church to the cemetery immediately following the Funeral Services.
