Listen to Obituary

Ronald James Berg of Bowie, MD passed away quietly on April 3, 2026 at the age of 88. He was the son of Gustave and Elizabeth, the brother of Gustave Jr. (Marguerite), the husband of Carol Zaremba for almost sixty-four years, the father of Ron Jr. (Laura) and Rebecca Brophy (Chuck), the grandfather of Sean (Sarah) and Connor (Kate) Brophy, the great-grandfather of Brynn Brophy and the uncle of Gustave III (Faye), Robert (Angela) and Lisa (Mark).

He graduated Penn Hills High School in Penn Hills, PA, in 1956, attended Carnegie Institute of Technology for three years and served honorably in the United States Airforce for two years. After a successful thirty-one career at IBM, where he won several awards for his work, he had an even longer retirement to volunteer as well as to enjoy the things he loved, including family, friends, gardening, the outdoors and church. He obtained his private pilot’s license in 1984 and enjoyed flying friends and family in his Piper Tri-Pacer, call sign 2421P. His passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those he touched, but our hearts are lifted by the knowledge that he is in heaven with those that went before him, including his parents, daughter and brother.
