Rose Mary Cimino

July 30, 1936 — April 29, 2024

Crofton

Rose Mary Cimino (nee Venero), 87, of Crofton, Maryland went Home to God on April 29, 2024 under the tender loving care of family.

Rose was born on July 30, 1936 in Patchogue, Long Island, New York to the late William and Concettina Venero (nee Tommassone).

She grew up on Long Island, New York.  Rose met and fell in love with a city fellow, John Joachim Cimino of New York, New York.  They married on February 21, 1960 in Brookhaven, New York.  Together they built a life starting at the Cimino family summer home on Long Island, and later moving to Maryland where they eventually settled in Bowie.  Together they had three children, Jacquelyn (born 1961), Maria Elena (born 1964) and John Chris Cimino (born 1965).

Religion was extremely important to Rose and John who raised their growing family Catholic, attending mass faithfully each Sunday.  Together, they worked hard to send their three children to Catholic schools.

She loved her family most dearly, and especially looked forward to enjoying holidays and special celebrations with her loved ones.  Rose loved to cook and would fill her table with a bounty of home-made Italian specialties such as lasagna, manicotti, as well as, an abundance of cookies, pies and pastries.  No one went home hungry from mama’s house!

Rose is survived by her three children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Rose’s daughter, Jacquelyn and her spouse, David Olson, have two children, Nicolette Lee and Zachary Taylor Olson.  Nicolette’s spouse John Paul Shoemaker, III, and their two beautiful daughters, Isabella Rose (three years) and Naomi Mae (8 months) Shoemaker reside in Sharpsburg, Maryland.  Her middle daughter, Maria Elena and spouse Edward O’Connor, live in Charlotte, North Carolina with their three dogs. And her son, John Chris resides at their home in Crofton, Maryland.

Rose’s love and zest for life will be sorely missed, but we are comforted knowing God welcomed her into his kingdom with open, loving arms.  Rest in Peace mom.  We love you and miss you!

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15th between 5-7 pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy, (Rt. 3 South), Bowie, MD 20715.  Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 10 am, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1800 Seton Drive, Crofton, MD.
