Rose Marie Collins, 92, of Gambrills, MD., died on February 17, 2026, at Holy Cross Hospital. Born August 12, 1933, in Washington, DC to Frederick F. and Marie W. Frissell, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother Frederick, sisters Adeline, Carrie, and Ida, several nieces and nephews, and her husband Richard S. Collins, Sr.
Rose is survived by her children, Lori M. Collins of Southport, NC, Richard S. Collins, Jr. of Frederick, MD and Linda M. Collins of Frederick, MD. Her granddaughters, Alexis Rose and Allyson Marie, also survive her.
Career and Accomplishments
Rose started as a Federal Government Secretary while raising three children, later retiring as a Personnel Management Specialist at the Department of the Navy in Crystal City, VA. She also worked as an interior decorator for Home Interiors and Gifts, Inc.
Interests and Hobbies
Rose was an avid reader and talented writer, known for her heartfelt birthday cards. She enjoyed books, writing, watching the Redskins, following Rafael Nadal, and various TV shows. A fan of Keith Urban, Pink, and Lady Gaga, she attended their concerts. She also loved theater, ballet, opera, and cherished time spent with family and friends. Her cat, Cleo, has been a great comfort to her in recent years.
Family and Legacy
Rose’s happiest moment came in August 1999 with the birth of her twin granddaughters. Her strength and resilience encouraged those around her. She treasured family gatherings, valued friendships, and enjoyed dining with the Red Hats and Widower’s Club. Rose was affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, gramma, mamacita, and Aunt Rea.
Services and Tributes
The family will receive guests on March 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Fields, 1070 Cecil Ave. S., Millersville, MD 21108. A Funeral Mass will commence at 11:00 AM.
Floral tributes are appreciated for the Mass alternatively; contributions may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
