Sally M. Toohey

Sally Marie (Madden) Toohey, 67, of Bowie, Maryland passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31st, after a courageous battle against cholangiocarcinoma. She was surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 15, 1958 in Washington, DC to Dennis and Teresa Madden (McQuillan). Sally was a graduate of Northwestern High School and received her teaching degree from Salisbury State University. She worked as a Dental Assistant for over 30 years and most recently as a Bookkeeper at St. Pius X Catholic School. In both careers she made a huge impact on those she worked with, those she helped, and anyone that she came in contact with.

Sally's favorite roles were wife, mother, and Mimi, and she excelled at them all. Her love and pride for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable. With warmth and a legendary sense of humor she lived every day to the fullest, never missing the chance to say "I love you". She was quick to think of a way to help make the day brighter for someone, be it one of her kids, a coworker, or a friend of a friend. She had endless energy, loved fiercely, and fought like a warrior till the end. She was devoted to her Catholic faith throughout her life and showed it by her countless acts or kindness, empathy, and service. Sally was a light on this Earth and will now shine down from Heaven to all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by Thomas Toohey, her loving husband of over 42 years, her five children, Thomas Jr. (TJ), Matt (Erika Glass), Katie (Tony Ringer), Amanda (Tommy Kammerer), and Tim, grandchildren Rinoa, Cecilia, and Benjamin, as well as her seven siblings, Kate, Michael, Patrick, Marty, Timothy, Suzi, and Sharon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on September 11, 2025 with Visitation at 10:00am and Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment Service at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery will be held the following day.
