Sara Mae Owings passed away on February 10th peacefully surrounded by family. She was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on August 29, 1936 to Oliver and Anna Kirchner. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Richard D. Owings, Jr, as well as her sister, Billie Emery and brother, David Kirchner.

Sara moved from PA during her teenage years and graduated from Bladensburg HS. She later met her husband, Dick, while working at Southern Oxygen, they were married August 4, 1956.

Most of her career was spent working at District Wholesale Drug Company which later was bought out by McKesson Drug. She started as the executive secretary to the President and Vice President of the company and eventually moved into the sales department where she closed out her career at 75 years old.

She loved her family fiercely and never missed an opportunity to celebrate any milestone. Even in her final days she made sure her family knew how important they were to her. She also loved her church friends who became like family as well as her long-time co-workers and lifelong friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie K Barwick (Kevin) and Cynthia L Forney (Fred). Her five grandchildren, Hannah Philpott (Billy), Matthew Barwick (Heather), Scott Forney (Amy), Kimberly Forney, Jeffrey Forney (Kasey) and 12 great grandchildren, Joshua, Zack, Ezra, Lauren, Ellen, Sam, Ben, Finley, Peyton, Palmer, Audrey and Nola.
