Sherman Louvern Austin was born on February 13th, 1957, to Alfredia and the (Late) Lawyer A. Mallory. He slipped away peacefully at 1:30 am while at Adventist Doctor’s Hospital. He was born in Sussex County Virginia and moved to Maryland. He grew up in Kentland, Prince Georges Maryland. He accepted Christ at a young age at Kentland Baptist Church. Sherman was the oldest of his seven siblings.

As a young child, into his teenage and young adult life, Sherman had a love for model cars, comic books, drawing, Bruce Lee movies, and late-night peanut butter and jelly on toast. He would spend endless hours with the hobbies he so endured. He attended Kent Baptist church with his family and was a great advocate of the Bible. After high school Sherman decided to join the Armed Forces and was stationed in Fort Gorden Georgia and after graduating, he went to Illesheim, Germany. He was an Army Combat signaler and a decorated soldier earning his Marksmanship and Driver’s badge, in addition to Good Conduct, and Army Achievement Medals. Army Service, Overseas Service and Professional development Ribbon’s.

After eight years of service in the military Sherman settled in Montgomery County Maryland and had a career with Waste management of the Montgomery County Public Schools. Sherman’s unwavering faith could be seen in the way he carried himself and others throughout life’s joys and hardships. He had an undying love for family and his music. I guarantee there is a song or two that will always remind you of him. However, his most precious loves were his children. He is survived in memory by his beloved son Sherman Tyrone, and his three daughters Kayla, Elisabeth, and Kendall. His beloved grandchildren, Desiree, Aniya, Kaiser, London, Annie, King, Melodii, Jodie. Sherman is also survived by his mother Alfredia Mallory and his seven siblings. Charles (Yvonne), Clara, William, Brenda, Wanda, Shernell, and Terrie.

Sherman has a host of family- too many to list, his surviving aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also had special friends from childhood he continued to be friended over the years.
