Steven Lynn Swann

February 28, 1956 — March 6, 2023

Steve Lynn Swann was born on February 28, 1956 to Alma Saul Swann Apolonio and Roy Swann.  He passed away March 6, 2023 after a hard fought battle against cancer.  He is survived by his brother Bill Swann, sister Anne Snell, brother Frederick Apolonio, niece Brittany Snell and nephews Saul Snell and Travis Swann.  He is also survived by his stepchildren John Kelly (Pam) and Kimberly Kelly McGrath (John) and those who were like grandchildren to him - Kelly, Sarah, Meghan and Andrew.   He was predeceased by his parents, step-father Joseph Apolonio, dear nephew Billy Swann and longtime partner, Peggy Ann Kelly.

Steve, raised in Temple Hills, MD, was our “gentle giant.”  He was as humble, gracious, kind and dignified as any man could hope to be.   He was an excellent guitar player and loved to play along and sing to classic rock and country with his Peggy Ann.  He was a huge believer in sunscreen.  Despite always being slim and looking half his age, he loved to eat huge servings and was always up for a crab feast.  Steve was an awful driver, but spent his last years working with cars every day.  He lived a quiet life and had a peaceful wisdom that could give anyone perspective on even the most complex issues.  In keeping with his easy-going spirit, he passed peacefully in his sleep after spending his last day with family.  His deep compassion for his fellow man and animals alike set an example to which we all should strive.  He will be deeply missed.
