It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Taylor, who departed this life on September 9, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland, at the age of 55.
Steven was born in New York City on August 5, 1971, to the late Bishop Young and the late Thelma Taylor. He was a devoted Husband, loving Father, proud Grandfather, cherished Brother, Cousin, Uncle and beloved friend to so many.
Raised in Florence, South Carolina, Steven graduated from Wilson High School. In 1995, he decided to serve his country in the United States Army, proudly serving until 2001
In 1999, in Giessen, Germany, he would meet the love of his life. On September 3, 2004, Steven married his love, Anna. Together, they shared more than 26 years of love, marriage, laughter, Family, and countless memories.
Following his military service, he continued his commitment to serving his country through his career with the Department of Defense, working at Fort Myer, Virginia, with the Department of Public Works (DPW).
While Steven accomplished much throughout his life, those who knew him best will remember him most for the joy he brought to the people around him. Family and friends were everything to Steven. He loved being surrounded by his family, the people he loved, sharing good food, laughter, conversation, and unforgettable moments.
Steven had a passion for the things that brought people together. He loved being on his grill, cooking good food and making good memories. He loved riding his Slingshot and enjoying the open road, affectionately known as "Slingshot Steve" or "Black Superman". He loved looking FLY and loved to dance! Anyone who knew Steven knew one thing for sure—Steven loved Life! He could light up a room with his energy, smile, and loved to see his family and friends happy. He would make sure he called you to make sure you were ok, putting aside his own struggles and pains.
Steven leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Anna Taylor; his children, Justin, Brianna, Kayla, and Crystal; and his grandchildren, Zyen, Za'Niya, Kyleef, and Kingston. He was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of his 5th grandchild, Legend who will forever be a part of his legacy.
He is also survived by his siblings Sheila Horton, Valerie Taylor, Richard Taylor, Jeanette Taylor, and Jeffrey Taylor, along with a host of extended family members, friends, military brothers and sisters, coworkers, and loved ones.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Bishop Richard Young and Thelma Taylor.
Steven's presence was a gift to everyone fortunate enough to know him. His laughter, his love of family, his dancing, his generosity, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort knowing that the love Steven gave so freely will continue through his children, grandchildren, family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
