Susanne M. Ottey

Susanne Marie Ottey, born June 15, 1958 and passed July 26, 2023 at the age of 65 years old. Her passing was hard fought in spirit though her body was too weak to continue this life.

Susanne was born in Batavia, New York and as a child moved to Maryland where she graduated from Bowie Senior High School in 1977.  She married Mark Ottey and had two children. She was a stay-at-home Mom, though did work various jobs as the children grew. In addition to raising her children, as a loving grandmother Sue also raised her two grandchildren.

Growing up Susanne loved to cook. She enjoyed music and dancing in the family’s rec room. Sue played the clarinet and guitar and was also a Brownie. As an adult she was proud of her vegetable garden and found joy in picking flowers.

She leaves behind brothers Dennis Dziekan and wife Linda, Gary Dziekan and wife Kathleen. Sisters, Jeanne Hartmeyer and husband Howard, Sandra Worley and husband Charlie.  Grandchildren Daniel Ottey and Aubrie Ottey.

Predeceased family include, parents Andrew and Geneva Dziekan, brother Andrew Dziekan Jr and wife Ana Maria and children Kevin Ottey and Kyle Ottey.

In her final days Susanne was in the loving care of hospice and found joy in the garden outside her room.  Family and friends were by her side to the end. She quietly passed holding her sister’s hand.
