Thomas Aloysius Dick, 92, a life-long Catholic and family man, passed away peacefully with his wife, Leanna, at his side, on July 4, 2026 at his home in Odenton, Maryland. He was born March 1,1934, in Kenton, Ohio, the second of seven children born to Augustine and Mary Leonna Dick. He graduated from John Carroll University in Ohio in 1956 and enlisted in the Army after graduation. After basic training, Thomas attended Advanced Training at Army Language School in Monterey, CA. In 1958, he married Marilyn Joy Cavin (deceased) in Kenton, Ohio. He was released from active duty on July 3rd, 1959, was hired by the Department of Defense as a civilian in September, and later moved his young family from Ohio to Maryland. He retired on September 25, 1992 after 36 years of government service. He took up golf and cycling after retirement and rode in several week-long rides in Ohio, Iowa, Maryland, and Virginia. He loved being active and outdoors.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 29 years, Leanna Dick, as well as his six children, Thaddeus Jude Dick (Catherine), Matthew Dick (Lisa), Mary Payne (Alan), Christopher Dixon (Sandy), Collette Burkhart (Kurt), Margaret Hill (Vernon), and stepdaughter, Kathleen Buchanan (Joshua); 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn Joy, his sister Joann, and his brother Bernie.

Visitation will be held at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Crain Hwy., Bowie, MD on Sunday, July 12 from 2-4 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1283 Odenton Road, Odenton, MD on Monday, July 13 at 11 am. Internment is private and will be held on Thursday, July 16 at Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
