Thomas Raymond Isherwood
March 5, 1966 – April 25, 2023
Thomas Raymond Isherwood (57) passed away peacefully at his home in Bowie, Maryland on April 25, 2023, after a year-long cancer journey. Tom leaves behind his wife of ten years, Robin Smith Isherwood, his father, Raymond T. Isherwood, husband of Yanmei Qu Isherwood, of Lake City, Florida, his brother William, husband of Susan O’Donnell, of Oahu, Hawaii, his nephew Christopher Scanlan and great-nephew, Trever Scanlan, of Montross, Virginia, and a multitude of extended family and dear friends.
Tom was born in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, to Raymond and Jeanne Ann (Johnston) Isherwood, on the Quonset Point Naval Base where his father was stationed. When asked where he was from, he always called himself a “Navy brat”. His fondest memories were of when his father was stationed in Hawaii at the Barking Sands Pacific Missile Range Facility, Kauai. The family lived in base housing. At the ages of 8 through 12, what better than a beautiful beach as your back yard.
Having built his first computer with his father at an early age, he was a natural “IT Nerd” as he called himself. Tom worked for Willkie Farr & Gallagher in Washington, DC for 32 years as an IT Specialist. Most recently, he continued using those skills as a Network Administrator at Chimes International, Ltd. in Baltimore, Maryland.
His love of music took him to Omega Studios’ School of Applied Recording Arts and Sciences. Where the rest of us are likely listening to the tune and the lyrics, his ear was most interested in the nuances of how a piece was recorded and mixed. He utilized this musical knowledge with his own recordings at home. He played guitar and wrote most of his music on his 12-string. He was an avid and masterful cook. He loved nothing more than placing a plate before you that looked like it belonged on the cover of a magazine, and it tasted just as delectable.
Tom has left a huge void in the lives of so many, but precious memories of his quick wit, his quiet grace, and calm demeanor will live on in the hearts of the countless lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 17, 2023 at 11:00 am, Holy Trinity, 13106 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tom’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
