Thomas Eugene Seekford

Thomas Euguene Seekford, born August 20, 1935 in Luray, Virginia, passed away on August 23, 2022. Tom grew up in the Luray and Winchester areas of Virginia.  While in Winchester, he worked at the dairy and served as a volunteer fireman. One day while standing in front of the fire station, he saw a beautiful woman, Ruth Ellen Bageant, walking down the street and just knew he had to meet her. Tom and Ruth were married on May 25, 1957, enjoying 65 years together.  

They lived in Virginia, where their daughter, Brenda Jean Seekford, was born. In the late 50’s, they moved to Washington, DC, where Tom worked in the flooring business, Ruth worked at a bank, and they had their second daughter, Robin Kay Seekford. After a brief period in Washington, DC, they moved across the line to Queenstown, Maryland, and welcomed their son, Mark Anthony Seekford. A few years later, the family moved to Takoma Park, MD. During part of Tom’s youth, his family worked at a farm in Bowie, MD, where in the early 80’s he moved with his wife, Ruth, and they made their home for the past 40+ years.  

Tom enjoyed many sports: bowling, shuffleboard, softball, golf, watching football, and playing cards. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Brenda; and his daughter, Robin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Virginia Courtney and Thomas William Seekford; his half-sister, Gleah Marie Dean; his brother, Isaac “Buddy” Seekford; and his son, Mark. 

On Wednesday, August 31, a brief Visitation at 11:30am followed by a Service at 12 Noon will be held at Beall’s Funeral Home at 6512 NW Crain Hwy., Bowie, MD. Internment will follow the service at Lakemont Memorial Gardens at 900 West Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD.
