Tirone Adil Haimanchandra, affectionately known as Joey, passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 37. He was born on January 30, 1988, in Washington, D.C., to Zaleena Bellinger. From the age of two, Elliott Bellinger entered his life as a devoted father.

Tirone graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 2006. One of his greatest joys as a young boy was traveling to Ghana with the Young Ambassador’s Club while attending Paul Junior High School. A lifelong learner, he was an avid reader and a gifted poet, even having one of his poems published.

Family was at the center of Tirone’s life. Growing up alongside his Haimanchandra cousins in the same household allowed them to build strong, lasting bonds. He was a gentle spirit who loved children, and his nieces and nephews were naturally drawn to his warmth. Tirone shared a special closeness with his “papa,” Boodhoo Haimanchandra. Together they enjoyed simple pleasures, like eating raw salt fish and Popeye’s chicken skin, moments that became treasured memories.

Tirone traveled the world with his parents, taking his first cruise at just seven years old. His favorite destinations were Disney World and Universal Studios, where he discovered his love for Space Mountain. At nine years old, he developed a fascination with electronics and quickly became known as the family’s tech expert. He delighted in fixing computers and teaching relatives how to use technology.

Spiritually, Tirone was drawn to scripture and found meaning in reading both the Bible and the Qur’an. His humor was quick-witted and clever, brightening every room despite his soft-spoken nature. Creativity flowed through him—whether sketching cartoons or writing poetry—and he carried himself with resilience, respect, kindness, generosity, and a deep love for family. His bond with his mother, Zaleena, was especially strong and unbreakable.

One cherished memory of Tirone is his beloved black Saab convertible, which he adored and took great pride in. No matter the weather, the top was always down and the music blasting, a reflection of his joyful spirit.

Tirone is survived by his mother, Zaleena Bellinger, along with his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Elliott Bellinger, his grandfather Boodhoo “Papa” Haimanchandra, his grandmother Bibi Ashrafeen Haimanchandra, and his nephew Kendall Mycah Parson.

Remember Me

To the living, I am gone,

To the sorrowful, I will never return,

To the angry, I was cheated,

But to the happy, I am at peace,

And to the faithful, I have never left.

I cannot speak, but I can listen.

I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.

So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea,

As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity,

Remember me.

Remember me in your heart:

Your thoughts, and your memories,

Of the times we loved,

The times we cried,

The times we fought,

The times we laughed.

For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.
