Valerie Irene Bowling

Valerie Irene Bowling, (Kelley), 70, of Greensboro, MD, passed away suddenly after an illness on September 18, 2026, at Easton Memorial Hospital.

She was born on November 13, 1955, in Washington, DC, to Arthur M. Kuhl and Ruth Curles.  

Valerie grew up in Riverdale, MD, with her mother and brother Steven Kelley. She graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1974.

In 1975, she married George Bowling Jr., and together they built a life in Landover Hills, MD. They shared 12 years of marriage and had three children—Justin, Chris, and Erica.

Valerie was known for her warmth, her sense of humor, her love of her children and grandchildren…and her love of animals, especially cats.

She spent her working years as a Medical Assistant, first working for Leeland Memorial Hospital, and later in smaller medical practices where she assumed different roles and responsibilities for the respective practice. After retirement, she enjoyed family events, her favorite TV shows, including Star Trek, and taking care of her cat named “Sparrow.”

Valerie always made herself available to offer encouragement to anyone who needed it. Although she was a not a member of any specific church, she had a deep love for God and the Christian Gospel, and she was happy to share her faith when she spoke to people. Above all, she cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her brother Steven, her former husband George, her sons Justin and Chris, her daughter Erica, and her grandchildren Asher, Eli, Rosemary, Trent, and Ian. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth “Emmalea” Kelley.

A memorial service/celebration of life will be held on October 3 from 2p.m. to 4p.m. at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share a favorite memory of her and perform an act of kindness in her name.
