Vincent A. Jenoure

Vincent Anthony Jenoure (November 10, 1954 – June 8, 2026) was born at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, NY to Vincent Augustus Jenoure and Lydia Lopez Jenoure. Vinny, as everyone knew him, grew up in the Bronx River Housing Projects, attended Public School 102 and Junior High School 127 in the Bronx, and attended Church of the Good Neighbor in Harlem. His grandmothers, cousins, aunts and uncles played a huge part in his early years, influencing values he acquired such as loyalty, generosity, and a joyful nature. 

Vinny played organized sports for most of his childhood and earlier adulthood, an outstanding softball, baseball, and basketball player with natural and honed skills, who under his father’s coaching won awards for his accomplishments and sportsmanship. He attended summer camps run by the New York City Mission Society, where he collected some of his fondest memories as a camper and counselor. 

Beginning music studies in the fifth grade, he later attended the acclaimed (Laguardia) High School of Music and Art in New York City, where he studied clarinet and eventually the saxophone. Entering the College of Wooster in Ohio at age 16, he later completed his bachelor’s degree at Lehman College, went on to pursue a master’s degree from Long Island University and entered a bank management training program. 

Despite life’s challenges and paths that took him through troubled times, Vinny was a hero and somehow found the strength and courage to sing. In fact, his first love was music, and he would belt out a song at any opportunity. His home was filled with instruments, record albums, and books detailing the lives and accomplishments of great musicians. His record collection numbered over 2,000 albums comprised of mostly Rhythm & Blues and Jazz, which he insisted were organized methodically. However, if you were to visit him and try finding a particular recording, you could be sure they weren’t organized by album title or by the names of musicians. And after hunting for that one special album that he said you could find quite easily, he would proudly announce that his collection was organized by color! Yes, Vinny had his own special way of doing just about everything. One year before his passing, a final count of his instruments revealed a total of nearly 40, including multiple clarinets, saxophones, flutes, guitars, basses, electric pianos, auto harps, and violins, all of which he played constantly. And if you paid him a visit, he would insist that you pick up an instrument, join him and play a duet. When you reminded him that in fact you did not play the instrument he was handing you, he would say, “Sure you can play it. Just play it!

Despite any idiosyncrasies, he was the most generous gift-giver, even if you didn’t need or want another gift. Self-motivated, he worked out on his exercise machines and kept a large photo of a bodybuilder in his living room for motivation. Vinny had a sweet tooth. But, when confronted about the dangers of eating too much sugar, he would simply frown and insist, “your body needs sugar!” 

What Vinny cared about most was engagement and time well-spent with others. Family was of greatest importance, and even as his memory for some things may have faded, he recalled with excitement the ball games played with his brother Maurice, the music sessions shared with his sister Theresa, the unwavering support of his parents, and a family who cheered him on and championed his life.

Vincent Anthony Jenoure is survived by his sister Theresa Jenoure (Michael O’Bannon), his brother Maurice Phillip Jenoure (Rita Bishop Jenoure), and his nieces Chardae and Tia, great-niece Dylan Jenoure, and great-nephew Damari Jenoure-Mumford.Reply, Reply All or ForwardAttachAdd stationeryMore
