Walter Kenneth Earl Miller

October 27, 1947 — September 11, 2022

Walter (Walt) Miller, 74, of Crofton, Maryland, a loving husband, father, and friend to many was called home to glory on September 27, 2022. Walter was born in Alexandria, Virginia on October 27, 1947 to Stanley and Elizabeth Miller.

Walter Miller attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Alexandria, Virginia during his elementary and middle grades then attended Parker Gray High School. In 1965 Walter’s senior class was the last graduating class from Parker Gray High School. He worked at many odd jobs including delivering newspapers as a young boy, working at the Safeway bagging groceries, at the local pharmacist, and at the Golf Course. After graduating Parker Gray High School, Walter attended Howard University majoring in Sociology.

While working at the Pentagon as a summer employee, Walter met and immediately fell in love with Loretta Harris. They were united in Holy Matrimony on July 19, 1969. To their union was added their treasure of joy Frederick Christopher Miller. He began working at the Library of Congress Annex at the Navy Yard and then later at the Main building on Independence Ave. as a Librarian Technician. After 44 years of service Walter retired from the Library in November 2011.

Walter was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the Maryland Jaycees. Walter led an active life. He was an avid Baltimore Ravens Fan. He loved going to the Raven games at M&T Stadium. He also enjoyed bowling, and won prizes in many of the Bowling Tournaments. Walter and Loretta loved to travel by car, plane, train, or cruise ship. They visited most of the states in the United States. They also have fond memories of traveling to the Bahamas, Alaska, Hawaii, and Australia. Walter has joined the band of angels in heaven which include his parents Stanley and Elizabeth Miller, his brother Eugene Miller and Eugene’s wife Alberta Miller, and many other close cherished relatives and friends.

Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife Loretta; his son Frederick (Kizzy); brother-in-law Robert Harris; sister-in-laws Yvonne Harris and Valerie (Dean) Gregory; nieces (Vicki Miller, Winona Harris & Pamela Singleton), nephews Ronald Miller (Paula), James and Perry Harris, Andre’ Singleton, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
