Waltraud "Betty" Garland

Waltraud “Betty” Garland, a Bowie resident since 1979, died Monday, March 6, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 7, 1945 in Seeheim, Germany. Betty married in 1962 and traveled to the US and to deployments including Panama and Germany with her husband. After raising her daughters she worked for many years at Bradlees, Burlington Coat Factory, and eventually became a manager at Trak Auto then Advance Auto. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2019 and son Steven in 1968. She is survived by her two daughters. The joys of her life were her grandchildren and her dogs. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20902
